It was my second visit to the once-obscure Spirits Falls and my first time meeting photographers Paul Dekort, Peyton Hale, and Justin Poe in the fall of 2014. With three talented artists taking aim at Spirit with limited real estate to begin with, I decided it best not to try to follow in their footsteps (take a gander below!) and mostly stayed back from the main vantage point, taking the opportunity to explore the beautiful scenery downstream.
I'm not bummed at all that I didn't really shoot Spirit that day...I'm not the kind to let 'getting the shot' trump the authenticity of a moment, and at that time the true richness of the experience was in the privilege of keeping company with these fine gentlemen. Not only is their work refreshingly 'real' and true to life, they're genuinely down-to-earth people. That's an increasingly rare character in this look-at-me age of disenlightenment, and I think this sincerity readily comes through in their inspiring photography.
I encourage you to take a look yourself...
