It's a familiar if infrequently-captured scene to the growing hordes of photographers who visit Elowah Falls each year. The rushing waters flowing past Volkswagen-sized moss-covered boulders make an undeniably perfect staging ground to capture the grace of 213-foot-tall Elowah, but under the right conditions I think it proves a perfectly worthy and elegant subject unto itself. Though the fiery leaves betray the autumnal turn of season, the verdant radiance of the abundant moss offers compelling evidence that rock gardens benefit greatly from regular watering, too.
Consider this the long-exposure complement to “The Wayside”.
