Shadows grow long as the sun approaches the horizon at Bandon, a place I'd long wanted to lay eyes on and experience myself after years of seeing beautiful images of it through the lenses of other photographers. But this trip had little to do with chasing down a trophy shot and everything to do with leaving the stresses and frustrations of unrelenting work behind. Indeed, we'd only planned on staying one night in the charming beach town just to break up the longer drive to the redwoods, and the weather forecast hardly looked favorable for photography. It was only by sheer grace that the clouds and marine layer parted long enough for this gift of light before day's end.
