Life in a Northern Town
Lofoten Islands · Norway
An ordinary day unfolds on the anything-but-ordinary Lofoten Islands. Overlooking Kirkefjorden and its smaller brethren in the tiny hamlet of Vestervalen near Reine, an austere fire engine-red house endures the coastal tides on stout wooden stilts. Quintessential Nordic scenes like this were a dime a dozen in Lofoten, and I was, if just for a week, among the richest of men.
