My beautiful wife Ashley captures a moody sunset from a sturdy pier above the black volcanic sands of the Waimea Beach. The starkness of the brooding storm clouds obscuring off-limits Ni’ihua to the right in the midst of an otherwise expansive sky seemed like a divine suggestion that Ni'ihau's sobriquet as the Forbidden Isle goes well beyond mere political realms.
