My Blue Heaven
Lofoten Islands · Norway
Evening descends on another beautiful Norwegian late-summer day. I left the group on an adjacent rocky beach a couple hundred meters or so to the left, having braved electrified fence wires, camouflaged sheep turds, and algae-slickened rocks to get to the mouth of this coastal stream well before sunset and deciding to wait things out come what may. The skies didn’t quite ‘go nuclear’ as we photography types often overemphasize to the detriment of the moment-to-moment experience, but it was still an unforgettable time, the gentle wash of the low-tide surf lending a pacifying rhythm to complement the precious few moments of solitude.
