Cool and breezy early mornings are lot more bearable when the view off the front porch is this, a 675-meter rhino's horn spearing the brooding clouds while a low sun throws warm sidelight upon the rocky shore. I'll be the first to admit I'm just about the furthest thing from a morning person as you can, but there's definitely something to be said for experiencing the quietude of dawn in the peaceful expansiveness of a place like this. On this particular morning I watched in silence as the tide flooded and ebbed, exposing the rocky kelp- and crustacean-encrusted seabed in small ratcheting increments while the occasional gull's cry pierced the airy stillness. It was a deliberate exercise that helped set a meditative tone for the day's and night's adventures to come...
