Grace Under Fire
Oregon · USA
Ramona Falls radiates with an unusual burnished glow, bathed in light filtered an incredible shade of amber by smoke-generated clouds from the 36 Pit Fire raging 50 miles to the west-southwest along the Clackamas River. We stayed here for the better part of a Sunday afternoon, watching intense spotlights of orange play across the columnar basalt and surrounding trees, 180 degrees from an unearthly sun that looked to be paying homage to the Japanese flag.
