Something Borrowed...

Iron Creek slices through a flume ending in a prominence that launches the water into as graceful an arc as any I've seen in my few years of waterfall hunting thus far. A rather long drive in the pouring rain guaranteed some semblance of solitude at the falls, and indeed only one other drenched soul visited the idyllic punch bowl while I was there. The place was rather bereft of interesting foreground elements from this side of the falls, though, and the rain splashing on the rocks and puddles made keeping the lens free of droplets while setting up my favored down-low compositions mission impossible (didn't help to discover a small leak in my umbrella, either). As I prepared to beat a resigned retreat back to the warm, dry clime of my car, however, I spotted this charming little robin's egg of a river rock nestled rather inconspicuously amongst its earth-toned brethren. I got down as low as I could and needed to wipe the lens dry every couple of frames or so, but it was a nice ending to a solo day out in the elements.
