Ramona Creek · Mt. Hood National Forest · Rhododendron · Oregon · USA
Yes, the misspelling is intentional. ;)
Stride for stride, the Ramona Creek Trail is probably the easiest thousand-foot climb you'll find in the Mt. Hood area. Of course, that's because it's spread over a three-plus mile hike, but the abundance of pretty and interesting flora and geography makes the elevation gain barely noticeable except on the hottest of days. An early start took me along Ramona Creek at a time when the sun was positioned perfectly to backlight the water in a warm, golden glow. This familiar little cascade along the way took on a heavenly, gold-plated aura, and I had to work fast to capture this image before direct sunlight pierced the scene just a few seconds later.
