Memories of Ramona · Mother's Day
Oregon · USA
Mother's Day 2016 found me on the tranquil banks of scenic Ramona Creek, shooting a scene I'd captured nearly three years before and presented in monochrome. Out of sight upstream, my mom and Ashley were exploring the spellbinding tessellated cascade of Ramona Falls, while partly cloudy skies flustered Terence with ever-shifting lighting conditions. Knowing him, though, I'm positive he came away with at least a handful of keepers. We eventually (and reluctantly) managed to tear ourselves away from Ramona's hypnotic grip and head back into town, meeting up with my dad and Ashley's parents for a Mediterranean Mother's Day dinner all together (Ash and I decided then and there we were adopting Terence, since we were crunched for time and I was driving and holding him hostage to have dinner with us anyway).
Ash and I are incredibly fortunate. Our parents are about as unmaterialistic as they come. They all value memories over money, experiences over possessions, and unity in heart, mind, spirit, and action. Together we enjoyed a delicious dinner filled with conversation, reflection, appreciation, and tears of laughter and joy. If this humble cascade represents Ash and me, then our mothers are surely the graceful waterfall upstream to which we owe the privilege of our truly blessed lives.
Can't wait to see what next Mother's Day brings. Terence, we're happy to have you along again, but we'll give you a choice next time.
Maybe.
