World-class photographers Stian Klo, Tommy Simonsen, and Rod Thomas crouch at the threshold of dawn as a gold-rimmed portal opens up to a gloriously blue Nordic sky. Gracious and talented fellows through and through, taking in this slow-motion sunrise alongside them on gorgeous Yttersand beach was among the highest of many highlights on this 2015 trip. I haven't been doing this for too long, I don't think, but certainly long enough to appreciate how much more enjoyable it is shooting in the company of photographers who share a similar submission to the fickle beauty of nature...ones who won't sacrifice the authenticity of preciously rare moments by virtually swapping skies or faking sunbeams or cloning wildflowers all for the soulless pursuit of likes, votes, and faves on social media. When guys as talented as these choose to stay 'true to source,' they show as much about what lies within them as much as about what lies without.
