Iris douglasiana 'Canyon Snow'
Iris douglasiana ‘Canyon Snow’ My latest garden obsession is the group of irises known as Pacific Coast irises. These are evergreen stalwarts for full sun to part shade, and in this era of climate change are a great xeric option for sustainability *and* beauty. We have a growing collection in our back woodland garden, and Canyon Snow Douglas iris is among the most floriferous. The flower stalks have been a bit long and spindly this year, but when a flower nestles nicely into a tangle of box-leaf honeysuckle (Lonicera pileata) stems, you’re reminded to welcome the element of unstructured caprice in the garden.
