I can't tell you how tempted I was to title this "La Veda Loca"...I mean, if you think about it, it makes sense: The road to the trailhead? Crazy. The ease of the hike to this viewpoint? Nuts. The view itself? Certifiably insane. But I held back and went with another corny name instead, though one I think quite befits the monarch of Oregon peaks as she appears entering the evening swathed in golden royal regalia. It wasn't quite the atmosphere that Gary Randall captured in his amazing photo, but it still managed to take our breath away.
