Lavender Daze
Washington · USA
Gold gives way to lavender as blue hour descends upon Mt. Adams and Trout Lake, a fine ending to a whirlwind day spent showcasing a fraction of what Oregon and Washington have to offer in the limited daylight hours of winter to yet another talented Aussie photog, Arun Raghu. He's quick to humility and will tell you with aw-shucks genuineness that he's only been at this photography thing for a little over a year or so now, but you wouldn't know it by viewing his work. We talked shop, philosophy, and a shared enthusiasm for all things Seinfeld, and I'm quite certain I learned as much about photography and processing from him as he did from me.
I'm not quite sure how these folks ended up settling on me, but I hope it marks a trend of talented artists from Down Under who are looking for a more than willing tour guide of my usual stomping grounds. I expect nothing in return other than the camaraderie, but maybe someday soon the favor can be returned...in a land where I can drive on the left side of the road without getting flipped off and honked at all the time. Americans can be so uptight sometimes.
