A front-row seat to Mt. Hood's beautiful north face awaits you at the end of a pleasant 2-mile northward jaunt along Vista Ridge, sending you through gently rolling subalpine forests of Douglas-fir, western and mountain hemlock, and grand, subalpine, and noble fir, interspersed with delightful little meadows cushioned with pink mountain heather, huckleberry, and beargrass. Although the sky itself became less glorious as the sun succumbed to the western horizon, it was offset by the intensifying radiance of Hood herself before she, too, allowed the last light of day to fade away.
