Cabin Fever
Norway
Not my lake. Not my cabin. Not even my original composition. This scene will always belong to my gracious friend Ole Henrik Skjelstad. It is his rightful place of solitude...a mere 15 minute drive from his home but so many more miles away from anything or anyone than any map known to man could ever portray. And no one’s showcased its many moods throughout the years as well or extensively as he. But this is my image. My memento. My own personal time machine that takes me back to the unspeakably serene evening when Ole generously shared time and space with me and equally gracious and talented Ryan Ennis. The rock, the soil, the shrubs underfoot, and above all the company...they were the perfect antidote to a life lived disproportionately long within the comfortable yet discomfiting confines of US borders. As thousand-mile journeys go, I couldn’t have asked for a better first step.
