Confined to remaining within cell phone range on call and with my Columbia River shrine shut down indefinitely by a young man’s senseless act, Ashley and I took the opportunity to explore some areas a bit closer to home. We enjoyed a peaceful walk in the moss-draped woods along an autumn leaf-strewn path, enduring a rain shower or two before ascending into the clouds. Along the way, stately old-growth trees flocked with yellow and orange leaves faded in and out of the haze, including this oddly sinuous but striking character.
I originally was going to title this “The Cedar Formerly Known As…”, but then I realized that I'm getting to that age where half of my audience may not get the reference without the aid of Infoseek, Altavista, or Lycos, and quite frankly I have enough joints grinding or popping out of place during random acts of non-athleticism to remind me of my increasingly distant birthdate.
Anyways, I think I just pulled a thumb muscle typing this. Honey? Where’s the Mentholatum?
