A glorious sunbow greeted us at the top of Lost Lake Butte, a nice consolation prize for the flat light generated by a gauzy layer of high clouds that rendered Mt. Hood and the sky behind it nearly indistinguishable. To the west, though, enough blue sky peered through to make things interesting, and on a whim I took the lens wide and shot upwards with a couple of alpine Douglas-fir positioned at the bottom to keep things balanced. This was definitely one of those serendipitous "shoot now, ask questions later" kind of shots, but sometimes those are the most memorable ones you get. Now if only I'd thought to tote a six-pack up there...
