The Midas Touch
Oregon · USA
Four hundred feet above the Columbia River, at a sheer cliff-edge viewpoint along the Horsetail Falls Trail, a natural scene of selective coloring greeted us during a late-autumn hike. Like paintbrush bristles tipped with gold dust, a select patch of trees greedily hold onto their yellowed leaves amid brethren bared by the threat of the coming cold, exposing their subtly sea-green lichen-coated twigs.
